It has been a dark ,windy and wet afternoon. The garden looks gloomy and there is a sense of depression in the air. People have been used to this kind of soul destroying climate for centuries here in the west. Yet every year when the air turns cold and the sunlight hours disappear fast, people remark that the weather is horrible. They long to go away to far away places in the sun and the warmth. Why hasn't the human body adapted to these changing seasons? Why do we still describe the temperatures as 'freezing'? Are we meant to be creatures of warm places. If that were so, why did human population settle in these cold countries?
